Mine don't free range when we are gone, they stay in their coop and safe run. Plenty of room, and safe!
This year we aren't going anywhere...

Thanks Mary. I have the best neighbors in the world. We bring the girls out in the front yard and they all come over to see them. They are not layers yet only 7 weeks old. Thanks for the information.

They will be OK as long as you have sufficient ventilation & shade & the weather is not too hot where you are. Midsummer with 90+ heat, I would never be able to pen mine in the coop, but most of the rest of the year I could. I have an auto door, so when I go for a few days, extra feeders & waterers is all I do. Previously I just left the door to the run open & hoped for the best. Worked fine for 22 years & then I got the auto door.
