Will have 6, 3-month old hens in August when my family and I go away for 3 nights/days. Would you all leave them inside the coop for that length of time(4'x6' coop w/metal roof and vents at either end which I would leave open) or leave pop door open to allow them access to the run. I plan on having a predator proof run with hardware cloth, apron, large gravel surrounding perimeter (1" stone), roof etc... What would you all do, or what should I consider doing/not doing. Besides getting a sitter...???
Thanks,
Steve

Steve,as long as the run is enclosed everything should be ok...just leave plenty of fresh food and water. If there is someone that can check in on them each day..that is even better.

With an enclosed run, sounds like they should be very happy. It's not that long. We have left ours for a week long trip with an enclosed run and a friend to check on them every few days and they've been very happy.
