I'm going on vacation for a two weeks. My 8 wk old chicks are outside and it is supposed to be around 100 degrees here. I have someone coming in the evenings to give them fresh water and food but no one during the day. I am worried about the heat when I am not around to give them cool water and such.

I don't blame ya......do you have another person who can visit earlier too? Maybe a nice neighbor kid?

My advice is to make sure they have shade and *more than one waterer*.

I have had my chickens knock over their water dish, and the other waterer can leak. Also sometimes they kick so much dirt into the waterer that it is fouled and almost a paste. They would have suffered in 100 degree heat if that happened in the a.m.

I hope this is useful!

More than one waterer is excellent advice!
