Vaccinate for Marek's Disease?

I'm finding it difficult to find a source of chicks in small quantities (5, and ideally of different breeds) that are already vaccinated. This will be my first flock, not additions to an existing one. Can anyone recommend a hatchery or other supplier, or will vaccination only become an issue if I add to the flock in the future?

It won't become an issue. Contrary to what some sources claim, vaccination does not introduce Marek's to your property. All that having vaccinated birds will do is protect them should your flock get Marek's. Many of the larger hatcheries offer small quantity orders with a surcharge. I can link some if you need.

My hatchery experience is with Greenfire Farms and they offer to vax for Marek's and have a 6 chick minimum. I believe in setting myself up for success and erring to the side of caution, so mine will always be vaxed, and I just vaxed my six hatchlings last month.

I got mine from Mount Healthy Hatchery. They do small quantities and only vaccinate for Mareks.

I just received mine today from https://www.chickensforbackyards.com/ I ordered 5, but I believe they let you order 3 minimum. I ordered 5 barred rock and received 6. All of them made it alive. I also opted in to have the Marek's vaccine.

It's worth it to get vaccinated chicks, and several hatcheries offer small numbers of chicks. It might be possible to make an order through your local feed store, with the hatcheries they use, and have yours vaccinated. At least ask!
