Vaccinate? Opinions wanted.

Really it depends on the vaccine. :old

My kids and myself are vaccinated against things like measles, mumps, rubella...

But NO my daughter is NOT vaccinated against HPV and nor will family get yearly flu vaccines.

My dogs got their initial series of vaccines against Parvo virus... as it is VERY prolific and deadly. They don't go to public places during the period of time it takes the vaccines to become effective. But they do NOT get yearly boosters. And YES they are all vaccinated against Rabies because it's the law... BUT would I do it if it weren't?? I'm nit sure.

My thought is... each situation is different and you should make appropriate choices for yours... based on your take and understanding. :)
Couldn't have said it better. Lol I suppose I'm not so good with conveying my thoughts into words :clap

I wonder if people who are against getting their chicken vaccinated are also against getting their children vaccinated? Thoughts? Who here is against child immunizations and chicken vaccinations...

My kids had all of the recommended shots. That was long ago, and before the medical community demanded vaccination for each and every disease. If I was raising children in this current day, I would do my homework very carefully, and weigh the risks of each shot. I do not think it is best practice to give so many shots to infants in such a short time frame.

I work in a field which "requires" that I get the annual flu vaccine. In '16, I got the vaccine and was infected with 2 rounds of respiratory influenza that winter. In '17, I squeaked by the radar, and did not get a flu shot. This was the "healthiest" winter I've had in a very long time. Both hubby and I are in a "high risk" category, and thus it's recommended that we get flu shots yearly. He has not for years, and I'm coming to the conclusion that flu shots are not the panacea that our government or medical community would have us believe they are.

Pets: I do initial puppy or kitty vaccines, then Rabies as required by law. Did you know that the rabies titre stays strong for at least 7 years? Yet the licensing regs state that a dog must be vaccinated every 1 - 3 years? I do not do heart worm medication for my dog. Do the homework on it. Very little risk of a dog becoming infected with this parasite here in the state of Maine. Yet, every vet office has their heart worm "YOUR DOG WILL DIE IF YOU DON'T" scare posters plastered all over their waiting room walls.

I urge every health care consumer (whether for your family, your pets, or your livestock) to do the homework before vaccinating or medicating. Find out what the risks and options are. Make informed choices instead of doing something b/c someone in a white coat tells you you must do it. I have several white coats hanging in my closet.
