"Organic" means different things to different people, like many of the marketing terms you get with food. If the food is organically certified, the certifying authority has to have a written set of rules to follow so he/she knows what they are certifying to. Otherwise it just depends on what mood someone is in that day. And of course the signature on the certification is only as good as the integrity of the person doing the certifying.
I'm not criticizing anyone's desires or beliefs. Organic can mean anything to you that you want it to mean. But just because it has a specific meaning for you, don't expect it to automatically have the same meaning to anyone else. That's the advantage of certified.
