And the main risk of coccidiosis in adult birds is bringing in a bird that is used to strains a b and c (making these names up) into an environment that has strains d e and f. Because their existing immunity wont work as well (or at all?idk). But if your birds grow up in the environment with d e and f, theyve already developed the ability to deal with d e and f and will be fine. (or die as chicks)

re: vaccines when sick
Vaccines can only be given to healthy everything. If you take a sick cat to the vet, they wont vaccinate it. If you are sick, you can't get a flu shot. Most vaccines have a tiny amount of live virus so you can't have them when your immune system is compromised by another illness - similar to why immunocompromised people (sometimes? idk just dont wanna say 'always' incorrectly) cant receive vaccines.
