Hello Fellow Chicken Lovers!
I just put some eggs under an experienced mother hen for her to hatch but i'm thinking of vaccinated them this time. I've hatched chicks under my hens a lot, mostly for other people that wanted chicks and i even have 4 chickens in the flock that were raised and hatched here but i've never vaccinated any of the chicks. i felt like it was time to hatch some chicks the moment my hen went broody but i didn't want to many new babies so there are only 6 eggs. 4 of the eggs are from a friends flock as i wanted new breeds and 2 are from my flock. So the questions i have are, Is vaccinated them a good choice? What should they be vaccinated for? What vaccination do i give them? at what age do i give it to them? And is it difficult/expensive to vaccinate them at home?
Thanks!!

But I will say that without vaccines chicks can have some issues. I would say if they are with a good mom and you haven’t had problems before you won’t need to do it. That said if around you there is an easy way to vaccinate, then take it. Vaccines are mainly for Merics and it is a good idea in my opinion to vaccinate for it if you have an opportunity, as it can wipe out or harm a flock. The main vaccines the use at hatcheries don’t prevent Merics but lessen the symptoms.
