I have six hens I adopted at 6 weeks of age from the FFA students at the high school where I teach. The girl who had them said that the five buffs had their "shots", whereas the one red-sex linked did not. Should I vaccinate the remaining chick? What "shots" was she talking about?

My apologies if this question has been answered many times before the more experienced. I searched, but couldn't find a post that gave me the answer.

None of mine got shots, but I am feeding medicated feed (which would nullify the shots)

I wouldn't do the shots....

One of the injections could have been for Mareks, the others are too numerous to list. Medicated feed has nothing to do with innoculations against poultry diseases, that's just to help their systems to become accustomed to cocci.

Contact her, ask what she's talking about. If her chicks came from a hatchery then they more than likely were innoculated against Mareks.
