Hey

I was just wondering if anybody here vaccinates their hens against salmonella and if so what product they use and a rough price?

I figured if i'm giving my eggs away to other people i should probably vaccinate as i don't want to inflict salmonella on them. I've never had a problem with salmonella in my eggs. Or any other disease in my flock.

However i figured it's best to keep on the safe side.

There is no Salmonella vaccine, last I read. Fortunately, salmonella is fairly rare -- and store bought eggs are as likely to carry it as yours.

Ah. Thanks.

I read up a little bit on it and it seems the main culprits are rodents and wild birds introducing it to the flock. Luckily i have a farm cat with my hens which keeps the birds and rodents away. And the hens get to free range over a large area so their environment doesn't get particularly dirty.

So i'm hoping all of the above will mean my hens are at a minimum risk of contracting the disease anyway.

Thanks again
