Vaccum Sealers- Anyone have a suggestion on one or has one?

i have a Food Saver, but have also used the Sears brand. Walmart sells a generic bag that will work with the Food Saver - but not as good with the Sears brand. It is nice to be able to use a cheaper bag with the Food Saver. We have worn out both and bought the Food Saver again.

if you buy one - a nice feature to have on it is the option to seal without vaccuum - good for making your own bags.

I have the fancy one from Cabelas and realy like it. We used the food saver ones from Costco for years and they worked well too, just didn't hold up longer then a year. If you're not going to use the....snot out of it I'd go with the food saver at Costco. Costco will take it back no questions asked if it doesn't work out for you so it's a good way to get your feet wet. If it turns out to not be what you want you can take it back and not be out anything but time.

I would go with the food saver. I had a blacken decker last about a year and half. Then bought the food saver, seals better and quicker. I didn't get the top of the line model. so, I have to make my bags by hand which is no problem. Works great for doing a quick marinate. Put meat in and the marinate the vacuum sealing push the marinate in to the meat. I tried the walmart brand bags they didn't seal as good.

We use a Sams (Wal Mart) Food Saver model V-2480. We havent used the container / Can adaptor, but this unit is great with the bags!!
Use it on our Chichens, Fish, Venison, Turkey, Basically if it fits in the bag you can Vacuum Seal it.
I do Search & Rescue and use it to seal many of the items we pack out on a Search, including socks, "t" shirts, etc.
We also have one in our command vehicle. Waterproofing Batteries, GPS units, Radios etc, while still being able to use the button functions.

Good Luck,
Regards,

Ace
