Welcome. Alaska is a beautiful State. I have been there many times. The only thing I could do without is your cost of living. I have never used an incubator - always momma hen. It is so much easier.

I hear that. We have one really old hen in the high tunnel and I don't think she would be much good for brooding

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!

We too don't hatch late here in Wisconsin, except I just did. I gave them to a broody hen, and she's raising them in a coop that's heated and doesn't go below 40°F. You probably still could get eggs shipped to you for a couple of more weeks. Most breeders are still shipping.
