My one eye, crooked beak chicky seems fine. It's suuuch a whiny brat! I hope it's a girl. I keep calling it a 'him' though.

yikes! They would never dry! 90% Do you have a little access window on top? some of mine do but the bigger hovabators are glued down, you would have to pick up the lid...Do you put your eggs in cartons? or trays or anything? I can use the access window pretty good without disturbing the humidity to much in the smaller I guess they are LG's...but the temp will fall if you arent careful AND then I always burn my danged hand on the element! that is one thing I hate about those kind...The lid is low and the chicks start walking around on other eggs in a carton....they are tall enough to get burned on the element...when that happens I start yanking em out of there...I hate that! ~ Cyndy

They were at 65% when they went into lockdown, but when 12 eggs open up at the same time, it really made the humidity soar. My only choice is to crack open the lid for a minute or leave out the vent plug (which was out the two days they were hatching). The last three chicks are in there with the final five eggs, which I think are duds. The humidity is back down to a comfortable 68%.

to those not having a good time this round. I hope it ends off better today or tomorrow!

Which has me curiously asking, who here was due Valentine's day and still has eggs left to hatch? I woke up this morning to a ton of chicks in the bator, but still, 5 eggs left to hatch today. One has an obvious pip, the rest seem completely quiet. . . . Hopefully they'll pip today and hatch today or tonight. I want a good hatch rate. So far I've got 25/30.

I've got five still sleeping (or expired).

Thanks, I blame MrHeinz, they're all from him. Hatched 1/22, I think I've got 1 cockerel and 2 pullets, and they'll probably stay right here with me. I agree, they're so ugly, they're cute!

Anderson8505: it's only about 5 hours old. I don't start to make my bidddies eat until day 2 or 3. I just stick them in thefood dish when they dry off. But I gotta find a place for this lil' fellah tomorrow when I get home. Sooo, he's just a chillin' with a stuffed animal racoon, of all things, inside my incubator.

I KNOW WHAT I DID WRONG WITH MY HATCH!!! I think the styrafoam on my incubator is rotten or something, coz it smells(dead eggs aren't smelly yet) and I full-term dry hatched quail in my other incubator before and it was fine. Soooo, looks like I get to pull the thrmostat etc. off itand do something else with it. And mrk my words: I swear I'll make a greeeeat incubator with it.

... wheneeeever I learn how to cut boards with an electric saw without taking off a couple fingers as well...

Haha, I apologize Debs_Flock... I kinda was in a bad mood when I was reading the forum earlier aaand I just read the words and didn't even let the pictures load... haha, yeah. Moi baaad~!

The inspiration fairy has punched me!!! I have a great ideeeeea! It's so fun to take two other people's ideas and add it with your own to make something super cool with the atributes of all the original desighns!

Take a look at this link and I'm sure y'all know what. Standard GQF hovabator looks like. Imagine the two incubators combined! I'll make a drawing.... yeah!
