It's a Celebrity Chicken Contest! You will need to post a picture that you took of a fowl that you own that looks like a celebrity. You will also need to post a picture of your look-alike celebrity for comparison, although you do not need to take that picture (just don't break any copyright laws in your quest!). You may photoshop the pictures slightly, but only to add props or background to aid in your look-alike. SCG to be sole arbiter of any issues.

The prize is a coupon for 8$ off 6 bags of Purina Poultry Feeds. You may purchase any of the following: 50 lb Flock Raiser, 40 lb Layena or Layena Omega or 50 lb Start & Grow. The coupon expires 5 March 2012.

I know people are like those are very pretty chickens!!! I love my BLRWS! I have a pretty good flock, and i own 2 cockerels and 7 pullets. My last hatch had 3 fully developed chicks and they hadn't gotten in the air sac and hadn't absorbed the yolk. I didn't measure humidity(big mistake) and i hatched turkeys and the same thing happened. I'm going to get something to measure humidity.

I have trouble with the natural humidity being to high so I dry incubate now

I have 17 of Rockinpaints beautiful lav, blue, and lemon cuckoo eggs about to hatch tomorrow and even though I dry incubated the whole period they still had too small of an air cell and too much moisture. After reading on here I came across a suggestion to put dry uncooked rice into the incubator to absorb the moisture. It worked great and I just checked the air cells and they couldn't look more perfect

They are supposed to hatch tomorrow night so I won't up the humidity until I see the first pip. In the Reptipro 5000 it only takes a few seconds for the humidity to rise . Good luck on your next try

Melissa Rose what does your humidity run when its completely dry? Just curious, I do a dry incubation also and my house humidity is above 50% all the time. I think its high because of all my house plants

You're in just by posting here until I get the google doc/ spread sheet set up. That will be for calculating hatch rate unless somebody decides to run a contest guessing the total set or hatched.

Our natural Air humidity runs around 45% but it's been damp and rainey lately - thankfully - and around 80%. We really need the rain but it's been making it hard to incubate. I am so glad to find out about the rice! It worked really good! Nellie's beauties should hatch without trouble now. Although the chicks may be a little large since they incubated with a high humidity. I have 5 lemon cuckoos 5 lavs and 7 blues

2. Video must be 30 seconds or less.
3. Video must be recorded by you or a family member. The subject doesn't necessarily have to be yours, but you have to make the video recording yourself.
4. Video cannot contain any copyrighted music. (If you didn't play the instruments and/or sing the song, unfortunately it's not yours to use...unless it's royalty-free music.

5. Only 1 entry per BYC member.
6. Post the video in this thread with a little blurb stating it's your entry for this contest.
7. Contest open now and ends on February 10, 2012 at noon CST.
8. I'll make a page with all the entries and post the link so people can view it. Voting will be through PM to me with their choice of best video. Voting will begin after noon on February 10 through noon CST on February 14, 2012 and the winner will be announced later that day.
