Valley Hatchery LLC

Yes I just actually spoke to them trying to gain more info. They do have a location in TN which is closer. Thanks so much for info! Much appreciated😁

I placed an order in January for fall delivery and I'm concerned about the distance too.I live in southern WV. Thanks!

Day old Baby chicks exposed to cold during shipping can lay down and die regardless what you do.I will not ship chicks in spring or winter
This makes sense, and some hatcheries stop shipping around the end of October. However, it's good to keep in mind that in some areas the summertime temps during shipping can be just as dangerous.

True! The earliest I'll accept shipped chicks is September for southern WV. July and August is too hot

I can't recommend Valley Hatchery. We ordered Silver Appleyard ducks early this year and what we got were a mixed bunch of crossbreeds as far as I can tell. I don't believe Silver Appleyards are supposed to have black bills or a brown head. After contacting the hatchery they seemed unconcerned and offered no solution. 20250507_155231.jpg

They ripped us off. Valley Hatchery has no QA/QC procedures and sold us a defective bird, then refused to replace her. We purchased two "Cinnamon Queens" from them for the expressed purpose of providing us with eggs. Both birds were laying eggs when we received them so there was no excuse for the problems we incurred. They should have confirmed the health of the chickens before they shipped. They didn't. One of the birds laid nice eggs; the other one had some sort of birth defect with her ovaries. Her eggs have no shell. We notified Valley Hatchery immediately, but they told us to wait till she got older. We did that. The situation never improved. When we tried to get a refund, we were initially given "store credit" for $36, which we rejected. We wanted all of our $150 back. This included the shipping fee. We were essentially told to pound sand. These people are dishonest. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM.

Anyone have experience with this hatchery? I want silkies and am having a hard time finding them. I live in upstate SC and this hatchery is in CA. A bit concerned about distance and condition of chicks upon arrival. If anyone knows of a reputable farm/hatchery in my area I would love any info!
Thanks!!

I ordered from them and received timely. Unfortunately within a day ten of my chicks died. I'm not new to care, been doing it for years. Not only do they not try to remidy the loss, they actually tried to blame me in their email response to me sending pictures of proper brooder set up. Don't reccomend. I have never had over half my flock die much less within a day. And then get wrongfully blamed. Completely unprofessional.

Thanks for response! I did wind up ordering from Stromberg's. They really had bad reviews so I did not expect a good outcome. Their silkies were very reasonably priced. Fortunately they - all 10 ordered- survived and are thriving. I actually wound up with 11. They sent 3 extra babies in case any didn't make it. I ordered 3 different colors. 2 perished the first 24 hrs. The rest are doing really well laying eggs like crazy. They are not show quality but pretty. My blues and buffs were all bearded. My whites were not. The only negative Was that half were roos. Love them all. Just ordered more females from "my pet chicken". I personally would order again from Strombergs if they sexed them. Can't have anymore roos.😁
