Vancouver Island, BC Canada New contemplating Chickens

Am contemplating 2 pet hens, enjoy gardening and the circle of life, compost to humus, water, turn soil over, hens scratch for life and worms, eggs sustain human, and recycle. Sexing of Silkies, difficult? If I purchased my chicks at about 6 weeks would I be able to tame them and then look for signs of their sex?

Silkies are difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age. Generally you won't know for certain until they crow or lay eggs.
