Vaseline on Combs

How often do you need to put vaseline on your chickens combs? Unfortunately, I haven't done this yet, and think some may already have frostbite.

I don't know, since it doesn't usually get that cold here. I would think every 3 days or so---depending on how quickly they wipe it off.
