veg shortening and mites

All my birds free-range during the day: lots of nasties out there is the world. Seems I fight mites every single winter. I spray individual birds even (and trust me that takes a while). For a long time I did try just burnt motor oil. We always paint our Bird-dogs with burnt motor oil in the summer to keep off fleas and ticks; so I thought it would be great for the roost poles, but still I battled the little creatures and it seemed they were winning the war.

Then, a friend Craig Russell, SPPA President, recommended using the Malathion. I used Malathion for years on the tobacco crop so I gave it a try and the results were nearly miraculous. That's is why I made the suggestion. saladin
