Vegetable Garden Fence Height For Chickens

Hi there,
I have a small vegetable garden 3x8, and I want to put a fence around it so my chickens dont destroy it! How high should the fence be?

At least 6 feet, you can also clip a wing on your birds to keep them from flying over short fences. Arcing hog panels over it might work better.

It's quite variable depending on your chickens. I've never once in five years had my chickens get into my raised beds (3' total height). They are all heavy breeds. Lighter birds might be a different story.

My younger, lighter birds can easily clear 6'. I used to have garden beds in my chicken run (haha terrible idea) and had 3' chicken wire around it, which worked for a little while, then once they realized they could get in, they did. I netted it over to get through the rest of the year and moved the entire set up outside of the run after that.

I've had luck with this small fence from TSC. I can't remember if this is exactly what it was, but it gives you the idea.

I didn't want a heavy, bulky, expensive fence. My chickens didn't breach the fence as it was just too much work LOL!
