Vegetation, meatlover or dairy hater?

I eat meat. I didn't used to, but my husband is a meat & potatoes kinda guy and my menus had to change. I also drink milk, and having been a nursing mother I have been feeling guilty about it lately. Actually being in that place makes the situation have a whole different light! My son has not been able to drink cow's milk, so we started drinking goat milk and love it. My parents' goat and one they board just kidded and again I'm seeing a different side to the issue. We've considered having a dairy cow in the future and separating the calf for 12 hours instead of all day. We'd only get one milking, but at least the babe would have some too. It's difficult, but as a working & nursing mother, I get it.

Stumpy - beef makes your endo worse? I need to cut beef then! I never thought about something like that helping... No wonder it got so much worse when I started making menus for my husband's preference!

I love everything that's bad for me. I love alll meats, fish (but not shellfish), dairy (am a cheese addict), fruits, grains, but very few veggies. I'll eat potatoes, corn, most beans, carrots and squash but thats about it. I'll eat tomatoes, onions and garlic cooked. I love pizza and fast food too.

i dont really like milk but I love cheese and ice cream...not that they love me back anymore LOL.Darn lactose issues!

I also like meat.I stopped eating meat at 9 and didnt eat it again until i was just over 18....I found I really missed bacon and steak LOL!

I gladly play my role in keeping the wild populations to a happy and healthy number, as nature intended, I love veggies too though, usually give myself more veggies then I do meat.

Just about all the meat I eat I know exactly where it came from, how it lived, and how it died, I have no issues with the morality of animal suffering because everything gets harvested from the wild with the proper and respectful work involved to harvest it (and a guy who knows how to cook it wonderfully).

I have stomach issues so cant handle much dairy, cheese and ice cream are just fine but I cant drink plain milk.

You sound like my DD. She hated strained meat as an infant, would only eat very lean meats as a child (and only under pressure from her parents), and declared herself a vegetarian as soon as she could say the word. Looking back at it, I now refer to her as a born vegetarian. Like you, she had no moral objection, just didn't like meat!

I've been a vegetarian for 24 years. I eat some dairy, cheese, sour cream, etc. But I don't drink milk because I've done a lot of reading on it and it's really pretty disgusting, in my opinion. As soon as I learned there is pus in milk, that was enough for me. I opt for soy milk or rice milk, depending on my mood. Soy milk is a little thicker and I prefer it for cooking, and rice milk is sweet and light, so I like to use it in cereal, or just to drink straight.

One thing I'm NOT is a preachy kind of vegetarian. I'm a big believer in 'to each his own' thinking. I don't want someone to tell me I should eat meat, so I don't tell someone else not to. I actually find that a lot of meat eaters harass me about being vegetarian. Kind of ironic, they will carry on about preachy vegetarians when meanwhile I haven't said a word.

I don't even offer that I am vegetarian unless someone asks or offers me a meat dish, then I try to politely decline but they still get offended. Not everyone, some people lately are starting to be more open minded and a couple people will go out of there way to make a meat free dish if they know I am coming, which is thoughtful.

That won't happen if you seek out:

- small locally produced milk that is not mixed in with other dairy's milk

- drink milk from small herd healthy cows raised on clean pasture

- drink milk from herds raised without antibiotics

Cows raised on clean pasture, milked in a clean parlor, handled by small herd owners who truly care about the animals is a clean product.

Cows raised on mud, filthy pasture, in giant herds, milk mixed in with other dairy's, etc will always be milk that is required to be heat treated before human consumption because it will be filled with feces, blood, pus and other nasty bacteria and pathogens that will make you very ill.

Real milk from real cows raised on real pasture with real care = excellent quality clean milk that doesn't need to be pasteurized in order for you to drink it.

We only drink raw milk. It is awesome.

Also - I am a carnivore. Meat, milk and milk products, and eggs is my choice.

We choose the eat less meat school. I mean we do have milk but we also drink almond milk, we eat meat but not everyday. I'm raising rabbits for meat so we know 100% that they were well cared for, of course the meals with rabbit are not often either.

um I don't know if I can say the name of the book on here. Skinny Bi*ch. Is a great book on healthy food choices. I love this book by the way. The way they wrote it is just funny.

They have facts on dairy, meet, and sugar.
