We eat venison every week...(Axis Deer)

I was thinking of mincing and/or grinding some fresh raw meat for the hens a couple times each week... Wouldn't this be a great source of healthy supplemental protein?

I'm thinking serving it raw would be best and nutionally better for them... I would only feed enough for them to finish off in 10-15 mins as I wouldn't want the meat to sour if left un-eaten
for an extended period of time... like a SUPER-FORTIFIED-TREAT!

Wouldn't want to pack their crop/guts with it....

What do you think...Okay?

Thank you!

I have given mine some awhile back. My husband and I are avid hunters. I give it to them in moderation like you sugguested b/c I worry about e-coli if it sits around etc...

But, mine absolutely love it!! And it helps give them a nice boost of protein

Thank you for the confirmation folks!

oh p.s. when we butcher I try to remove as much silver skin as possible and I give them that also. You should see the tug-o-war going on in the chicken pen. You will laugh your Butt off watching them go at it tuggin at it as if it were a rope!!!!!

We'll probably take a deer this year. Before I go and poison them, would you tell me for what reason would organ meat not be good for my chickens? Thanks!

As I wrote: you can feed heart, liver and brains with no problems.
