Vent gleet question

I had a problem with severe pecking. A couple of my girls ended up nearly bald with bright red skin. I was told by several people that one of the causes could be a protein difficiency. They actually primarily receive a 17% layer pellet. Right now I'm tossing a few handfuls of the mash into their run as scratch. They have a constant supply of oyster shells and grit and alfalfa hay They are also receiving acv in their water (1 Tbsp/gallon).

So with the gleet I'd be best to soak them in warm water, clean them up, apply raw acv to the vent area then yogurt? Or athlete's foot cream? Feed them probiotics but ensure it truly is a probiotic (namely in yogurt). Anything else I'm missing?

Thank you for explaining the protein - so you are adding the 35% as supplemental.

Yes, giving them a wash up would be a good idea if they have yucky bums. As for topical treatment - you have several options - so find one that best suits your needs.
