Vent Gleet Trouble

Hello, all. I rescued two girls about a month ago and they both had vent gleet. One is fine and cured, however her sister is not. For the life of me I cannot get rid of it and it refuses to get any better.

I've tried everything that I've read and they have access to clean water with apple cider vinegar with mother. Their food has probiotic supplements as well.

Their cage is nice and clean as well.

Treatments I've used:
- Soaking every day in Epsom salt
- Foot fungus cream
- Iodine (it's why she has the brown red butt feathers.)
- cleaning butt area every day.
- on top of the extras added above.

If anyone can give me insight I'd be so happy.

Or is it just too far gone? When I got her it was terrible and her feather pores were 5-10 times the size and caked with poop and her feathers rotted away.

I would try an oral medication for fungal infections, such as fluconazole or Medistatin powder (Nystatin,) which can be found online. Your vet also may have good recommendations. Nustock horse cream is a sulfur based cream that you can apply around the vent area which may help heal and prevent pecking. It is found in many feed stores and online.

I agree, I would try oral treatment as well.
Check to make sure her crop is emptying overnight.

When you clean her up, you may still want to put a protective barrier on the skin so it doesn't get completely raw from the discharge. Hen Healer does a decent job of protecting skin. It is bright blue, but stays on pretty well. Other options that come to mind is using a diaper rash cream. I know that sounds odd, but it also does a good job of protecting delicate skin.
