Hi!
I noticed a smear of blood on a particularly large egg this morning, and as my chickens are fairly young (around 10 months old) I thought it was fine. It has also never happened before; this was the first time we’ve seen blood on an egg. However, I checked my hens just to be sure and one of my hens, Maple, has something wrong with her vent. She already has a lot of bald spots and I don’t know whether she is being picked on or molting (nearly all of the other hens except 1 have bald spots too so I assume it’s molting?) I’m really worried and don’t know what to do for her vent because I’ve never had chickens before and it looks pretty bad. Can I get some advice on what to do? Thanks.

Looks as if she is being pecked. Very likely the one bird that is in perfect feather is pecking/plucking the others. I would either remove her from the flock or try Pin Less Peepers on her - the pecking hen, not the hen with the damaged vent.

Thank you so much, I did notice that after the rooster mated with a hen, that one hen with perfect feathers would come and peck them. Should I do anything for the hen with the vent problem? I thought I should at least wash it or something but my dad thinks I should leave it, so the blood clots can keep it clean and stuff.
