I noticed my hen in the nest box looking as if she were struggling to lay an egg. I picked her up and seen that she was prolapsed with an egg stuck. I soaked her in a warm epsom salt bath. The egg finally came out. Her vent was back to normal the next day but I still kept her separate from the rest of the flock. I continued to wash her bottom with a warm wash cloth and applied an anti microbial spray several times a day. A few days later her vent looks way worse after looking completely normal the day before. Should I just continue to soak her in epsom salt and keep her clean? Or what steps do I need to take now? First picture is original issue. Second and third pictures are the new issue after being almost completely healed.

Has she laid another egg since the first prolapse? It may be prolapsed again. Give her a human calcium tablet or a tums directly into her beak. Break the Tums in two if needed, but she can swallow that. It may help her muscle contraction. Can you give her a 15 minute warm soak and try to rub a little of the yellow material off when it softens? Then take another picture. Keep her prolapse from drying out by covering it with vaseline or other ointment or cream. Honey works as well and may reduce swelling.
