Vent Prolapse but egg has membrane around it?

Unfortunately I think the prolapse is looking worse in the lastest picture. It is really looking darker, which can be a sign that the tissue is not getting enough oxygenated blood. The tissue may be dying. I really hope someone with more experience with prolapse sees this, and comments. I would be tempted to go ahead and push it back inside, or at least attempt to.

Spoke to a vet over the phone as she is located 1.5 hours away and she said it was most likely the stomach of the chicken? Tried to poke it back in and not even close...gave her another bath / soak today and put more prepH and antibiotic ointment on...just cant tell if she is in pain or not?

That's not her stomach, but the cloaca is where the large intestine and reproductive tract come together. In a cloacal or vent prolapse the intestines can come out, but there doesn't seem to be that much hanging out. Does the tissue still look dark? It can be hard to push the prolapsed tissue back inside of it dries out or there is swelling. The longer it stays out, the harder it gets to push back inside. Chickens can be pretty stoic about showing pain. I hope you can save her, but many don't recover, and prolapse can recur in the future.

The tissue was impossible to push back in...would not stay for even 1 second. This morning she seemed in good spirits and would cheap to me calmly but her entire bottom was angry red and she looked swollen all over...the red bottom was about a 5" diameter around the vent.

We decided this afternoon to cull her and end her suffering and it was terrible...worse then I thought it would be. She was a super sweet girl and she is no longer in pain. Thank you to all that helped.

Sorry for your loss, but you probably saved her from a lot more suffering. Prolapse is very common in the hens nowadays that lay more often, and larger eggs.
