So my hen has had a prolapsed vent for around 4 days now but I'm not sure how to proceed at this point. The first day I found her she had poop stuck in the prolapse so I gave her a bath and flushed away the debris. I got rid of everything I could but there was still a something left in the back (which came up bloody on a qtip so I stopped bothering that). Everyday since I have given her a warm bath with epson salts 20 mins twice a day, and during this time I apply an antibacterial cream, vetericyn, and witch hazel. Shes been active, eating drinking good, and pooping well even with the prolapse. So what now? I've lurked extensively on this site along with other ones and vids yet none seem to be like this. I think maybe once the white urea stuff comes off I could try to put the prolapse back in, I just don't know how to get it off without hurting her.

That's pretty bad. I might try to find a vet to help. I personally have had no luck fixing a prolapse. The longer the tissue hangs out the worse the outcome. Sorry.

Yeah ill try to see if the one avian vet nearby can take her in the coming days but that decision ultimately is up to my parents. Good news though is today the crusty tissue was coming off a bit. She also loves all the warm baths and treats so am just hoping the situation improves more. Thanks for the advice.

Last post on this- On the 10th i was able to get the scab stuff completely off. So, under everything in those photos was red healthy tissue! After that the prolapse went back in easily so she's been back with the rest of the flock and is back to her normal self
I'm new to chickens so the great outcome is amazing to me. I just got some adult hens and one has a dirty butt. I guess I better get to cleaning her up Pronto. Txs!
