Hello All!
I was recently on vacation and returned to find one of my chickens with stringy poop and a slight bulge coming out of her butt. She also seemed hunched over and uncomfortable. The next morning, the bulge had gotten much worse (almost the size of a golf ball). I washed her butt from all the stringy poop and pushed the prolapse back in then sprayed with Vetericyn. I have isolated her from the flock and have given her water, but slowed her food intake. Her prolapse seemed better today, but then I checked on her tonight and it was out again which was discouraging. It seems that she is struggling with vent gleet as well which can't help the vent prolapse?? I'm not sure what is the best route for treatment of vent gleet or honestly the prolapse as well! I'd love and appreciate any treatment advice. We really don't have any poultry vets around, so that is unfortunately not an option.
