Vent sexing - pictures please

Adults I don't have a problem with. I want to learn how to sex them as chicks. @Myshire Farm Quail mentioned that they sex their quail at 3 weeks, so I want to learn how to do that too.

That's mostly just through experience. I was able to sex mine at about 5 weeks and I was about 50% right (luckily I had more girls than I thought). One thing to know is that girls will still have a thin layering foam, especially if you accidentally squeeze hard enough, so don't just put every bird with a drop of foam in the male pen.

Also try not to sex during mating since the females will show the foam the male's just got in them

If you give me about an hour, I can get some really good pictures of male and female. How old are your birds your sexing?

They're between 3-4 weeks old.

Alright. I don't have any pictures from that old, but if you'd like I can still try to get some of my sexes that are older

I tried that at this age at two Rosettas, too, through the vent bulge and thought they both were females, but one turned out to be a male.

If there is a possibility, I would be interrested either.

I've had 100% accuracy vent sexing my day old bobs. I know it's risky, but I've never had a problem. I did 16 chicks. I looked for a little dark grey ball thingy for the males, and the girls have no ball, just clear pink. If that makes sense, lol. I can try getting pics of my sister's bob chicks if you want, they're a week old.

That's a good age too. Right now I can't tell for sure until they're 7-8 weeks old.

Sorry for the delay. I tried to see them a couple weeks ago, and I couldn't even get the vent open. I kinda could on the one, but I couldn't even tell the gender, and the pics were terrible. I just hatched another Bob, and it was very easy to sex it right after hatch. He is a male. I like to do it when they're still a bit wet, before they get fluffy. It's easier to see that way. I'm having a difficult time getting pics. I just look for a little round dark grey ball in the back. Those are clearly male. Ones that are a clear pink all over are female. I mark mine with those tiny rubber bands from chicken hill poultry. Those are working great.

Ask him how he does it... maybe he would make us a video of it
