:(My daughters dog killed my favorite rooster last night. She's been breaking down the fence to get in so we moved the chickens to what I thought would be more secure. It turned out to be their death trap. I put them in the barn and blocked the openings with chicken wire tight to keep them in. Her dog last night tore one side up and killed the rooster. I'm sad and angry. So the dog will never be off leash or chain again.. I hate to do that to her but I won't loose more chickens! Angela

Its so hard when one of our pets kills another. I'd say, yes, keep her chained up away from your birds, she can't be trusted.

so sorry for your loss, chicken wire will keep chickens in but nothing out. It is time for some training with the dog,

If I may give you some suggestions.

I have a dog who is a killer, he has lived with us for ten years and must be under constant supervision.

Get yourself (or have daughter purchase if she is an adult) a 6 foot tall, cyclone fence kennel for the dog. Wrap the outside bottom of the kennel with chicken wire - this is to keep any nosy chickens safe. Without the chicken wire our killer will reach a long leg thru and paw the chicken and pull toward the kennel.

We have one for our killer dog. If he is outside - he is in the kennel OR the birds are locked up tight in their coops and even then I do not trust him so I must go with him.

Best of luck to you, your daughter, the dog and the chickens.
