Ventilation Pics

It's certainly pretty far from a desirable configuration.

Not, I'm afraid, gonna work really well for healthy chickens in a serious-winter climate (e.g. most of Maine); and as the previous poster said, man owuld that ever be HOT in summertime anywhere that gets real summer temperatures.

Just doesn't seem to be a well thought through design. Those vents should be up at the very TOPS of the gable ends, and probably should be hooded (or the roof built with a lot more overhang), and there should be more/larger vents openable for summertime use.

Also the run is rather insecurely built.

You could do better building something yourself

Good luck, have fun,

No one seems to be taking into account the 1) ridge vent that runs the length of the top of the roof and 2) the fact that it's a metal roof and chances are is held away from the the structure, allowing air flow any place where the sheeting is bent.

But without seeing an inside picture of the roof cap or further details on it, I can't say for sure if it was done right.

Just because a roof is metal does not make it an oven. Truth be told, putting a metal roof on YOUR home actually keeps it cooler. But then, like I said, it depends on if it was done right.

I don't think a person could really make an accurate judgement from the pictures. Maybe contact the company and see if they have references or perhaps if they've sold one in your area that you could look at.

I would check some other posts here as well as elsewhere about poultry ventilation. I know the temptation to just buy it and not build it is a concept many take, however, you must consider the hens and their needs and not the astectic design from a non chicken owner who wants to build everything that "looks" nice but is not very functional.

Take your time and research. Good luck! JMHO

What Patandchickens said. A vent under the roost and another over the roost seems to me to be the recipe for a draft right over your birds as they roost at night, and where else could they roost to escape it?
