Will this be enough ventilation for Scottish weather?

There will be a 2in.gap front and back of the coop. Plus two opening windows.

The coop is 7x6ft.

will I need more or less?

The roof will be a corrugated metal roof.

Eventually there will be 4 standard chickens and 4 bantam ones.

I did think weather i should take out the two top triangles of panelling too, but undecided.

many thanks.

How big would the windows be? Would they be left open for ventilation 24/7 or no (if not, they wouldn't count into ventilation)

Figure 1 sq ft (0.09 sq meter) per bird in ventilation. The gaps you have shown there are a little tricky to calculate as far as sq footage as they're not an even height all around, it's 2" at highest if I'm understanding correctly, but not 2" at the low point.

Looks like you're setting up for a ridge vent as well, is that going to be the case? If so, do you get a lot of snow?

Hi
The windows are approx 14in x14ins they could be left open all the time as I'm putting hardcloth over the opening.

I originally was going to do the apex as ventilation but dad felt it was overkill.

I also thought about putting two vents along the bottom near the floor the plastic slatted kind covered in hardcloth to give lower ventilation. Again dad felt it was too much.

We do get snow but not too much. The area I live has its own microclimate and snow never seems to be a big issue here. Travel 3 miles and boom it is.

I just want to make sure I get it right at this time whilst still building.

I would do it, called a ridge vent here, there should be a spacial piece of roofing to cover the opening. Does your Dad have chicken raising experience or are you a minor and he set the rules?

It would help to see the whole structure.

Hi
No it's my coop in my garden but dad is helping me build it and he has his own ideas of what it should be like. He's 79. I keep telling him this is what I've read, this is the minimum requirements etc so he is listening to me when I can provide reasons for the changes to his plans. We have both been on a learning curve building this but we are slowly getting something we are both happy with. He's just as excited as I am to get chickens and is looking forward to having more excuses to come over so he can sit with the chickens.

I don't have any pics of how it currently looks, plan on doing some tomorrow before the roof is fitted.

Agree on the ridge vent, your roof is already set up for it and if snow isn't a regular thing or a heavy load, it'll add a good amount of ventilation up high where you want it as long as it doesn't get snowed in.
