Hi Vermonters,

I'm new to the world of chickens and starting to build out a small flock to raise with my kids. I think I just located some RIRs not too far from me and would love to find some silkies. Is there a swap that I could find some chicks? Or is there a good way to find a local breeder? I've been using Craigslist but imagine that there are other sources as well.

The full list of breeds that interest me include:Araucana, Silkie, barred (plymouth) rock, buff orpington, red or black sex-link, silver laced wyandotte, and of course, the rhode island red.
