I just received 5 birds from some friends parents who could no longer take care of them. I was going to get some chicks in the Spring to raise with my young son, but this will be the start of our flock. From the looks of them, 1 Barred Rock, 1 R.I. Red, 2 N.H. Red and one White Unknown.
After 2 weeks of good egg production, their out put slowed and has been zero for the past 10 days-2 weeks.
I will post all of this up in a new thread.
Here are the ladies and their home. My design project was to make a coop out of the available materials in my shop. I had to buy the hinges/handles, but other than that it was all on hand.
I look forward to learning and sharing experiences with you all as we increase our bird holdings and move on to some meat birds in the Spring.

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
