I was doing some research last night, after learning that Sadie is, indeed, a boy.
I discovered a sanctuary in Springfield, Vermont, and I had the pleasure of speaking to one of the owners this morning.
I am NOT giving Sadie {post-Sadie... new name not chosen yet} away; I was seeking help and advice, and they're literally experts.
They're doing groundbreaking work.
They've been on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, I believe: at that time, they were in Maryland: until 2009.
In any case, they've since moved to Vermont, and wow! what a fantastic resource we have in our own backyard.
I am duly impressed, had never heard of them, and thought I should spread the word.
One of the main things they do is rehabilitation of former cock-fighters: abused animals.
I'm very sensitive to these things, and honestly? I've not looked into it; too harrowing.
I read about it last night, and wow.
Uh. Those poor creatures.
And what FABULOUS and humane work these folks are doing...
Their methods have been recognized by the National Poultry Association, too.
They're the only ones doing it, or: leaders in their field, as self-taught behaviorists.
They do rescue work with very many other species, too, now.

CAVEAT:
They are a little 'political' on their site; but? I don't believe this takes away from the value of their behavioral work with roosters: their methodology is sound and has yielded fantastic results.
If you are NOT more liberally oriented? {I am by NO means a radical or vegan. AT ALL. But? I respect others' views; and I DO believe their work is humane and important.} I suggest you look past the vegan stuff, and simply read about their Rooster Rehab work, which is fascinating and truly, culturally groundbreaking.
