Yes - unless it’s extremely severe, you’re best not touching the comb at all. Most cases of mild frostbite resolve on their own; I would worry more about the ventilation in your coop to prevent frostbite from getting worse.i want to apply Vetercyn to my chicken’ combs to treat frostbite. Will applying it in the cold winter exacerbate the problem?
Thank you for a speedy response.. we installed 4 ventilation caps on the top by the rafters this fall. But I should not have left waterer in coop. That must have been what caused moisture.Yes - unless it’s extremely severe, you’re best not touching the comb at all. Yes, I never leave water in the coop overnight. They don’t need it, as long as you’re out first thing in the morning with fresh water for them. Don’t beat yourself up - a few of my birds have a touch of frostbite and they are fine. I’ve never had to intervene.Thank you for a speedy response.. we installed 4 ventilation caps on the top by the rafters this fall. But I should not have left waterer in coop.
