I know hawks can be an issue so when we took in these 3 ducklings I told myself I would not leave them out unattended until they could fly at the very least. So I would sit in the grass with them in our yard and they were always within arms reach (usually I was kicking them off me because they love to sit on my lap).

Out of nowhere a hawk swooped over my shoulder and took Banana (yes we named them after their favorite foods). I even had her so close I grabbed her leg but couldn't hang on. This Hawk took it into the tree above us and we could hear her crunching. I got the other 2 in the covered pen and then suddnely a thud. The hawk had dropped Banana, completely uneaten out of the tree. I left her body there thinking that at least the hawk could have a meal and she wouldn't go to waste but it never came back. Now every time we open the ducks Pen these 2 hawks are right over head. We fought them off which umbrellas and high pressure hoses but we aren't allowed to hurt them so I don;t know how to get them to leave or how to protect Honey and Cheerio.

You can’t hurt them ? If they were taking your puppy you couldn’t fight back? I’d call the conservation officer or town office , they can come kill them for you .

We once had a teenage deer try to stomp my lab and mount my daughters , conservation came out and killed it , donated the meat to a shelter .... win win !

I hope you can find help

I would not let the hawk have its "meal" you are basically just showing there is food available and the food is your ducks. I would keep them locked up in a covered, secure pen for a couple days (or even weeks) till the hawks go away. And even when they do eventually leave, of course, keep a careful eye on you ducks! make sure to provide plenty of shelters (such as brush, bushes, diy shelters etc.) so they can hide.

How horrifying. Can you cover the area?

I had either an owl or eagle try taking my golden retriever when he was 3 months old. A 3 month old golden isn't exactly tiny. Just as it was swooping down, my german shepherd got there and it swooped back up. The german shepherd must have sensed it because I didn't see anything until it swooped up and the dogs were 20 ft from me.

Call a deputy or cop and ask them to deal with the hawks for you, or try to catch them and give them to a wildlife center, if all fails... shoot em texan style! Hell yeah ^~^
