Very Aggressive Pullets

As they near maturity, pullets burn through a lot of protein while their egg production systems mature. They also start to get really moody with flock members. Often times, they are also finishing up their last juvenile molt. All of this adds up to some less than wonderful behavior for a few weeks. Once everybody is laying, things really calm down.

Just an update...the lead instigator and most aggressive hen laid an egg yesterday. Today she's sweet as can be and the whole flock is nicer. Not one peck in the 3 times I've checked on them since the egg was laid. Didn't expect a mood shift that fast, but I'll take it.
