VERY deformed egg!

I have never seen an egg like that. i stopped feeding my chickens egg shells a few days ago because they will start eating their newly laid eggs for some reason. i bought a bag of ground up oyster shells the other day and mixed it in with their layer feed. chickens lay eggs with very soft shells every once and awhile i got a soft shelled egg three days ago and my hen has laid pretty well since then.

Oh my, I'm not convinced it's an egg. I know it has a yoke, but it looks like tissue around it. Hope your hen is ok.

One of my hens laid one recently that had a "healed" crack all the way around it, and lots of tiny hairlines. It had obviously been broken inside the hen, maybe in a fall, but had newer layers of shell over it, like spackle or bondo, to hold it together. I was going to take a photo, but my daughter broke it just trying to wipe some dirt off. It was terribly fragile and I'm surprised the hen got it out without breaking it. Lucky hen!

I don't believe that's an egg...I think it MAY be an ovary, believe it or not. The yellow inside could be infection, or could be egg follicles...I don't know much about this, but I think this may be something very serious. How did it feel when you cut open - sort of rubbery?
