I just finished up trying to hatch 14 eggs. 7 were not fertile and I tossed on day 7. By day 14 I had 5 still going. Monday should have been hatch day. Well I candled again, 2 more had blood rings. I opened and they seemed to have died around day 16 or so. 3 still looked good. One had visable movement last night. So today I started to pip them. 2 had quit some time ago. The one I saw moving was dead and fully formed, yolk absorbed, and had feces in the shell with it. What the heck? They were set in a cabinet incubator with countless others. The temp never strayed from 100 degrees and humidity held at 60%. I am so discouraged. I REALLY wanted these to hatch. Yes shipped eggs.

Oh, I am so sorry,it is heartbreaking when a hatch goes bad...

It's always the ones you really want to hatch. {{Hugs}} It may not have been anything you did. Sometimes things just happen, escpecially with shipped eggs.

Maybe your humidity was too high. In my cabinet incubator, the temp is preset at 99.5 but I don't let the humidity get over 45% until the last 3 days. Then I up it to 65-70%. I am sorry for your loss

I would think if they don't develop at all you could put some of the cause on shipped eggs, but once they start to develop I would think that they having been shipped becomes a moot point and look to other causes for the eggs that quit during development. Keystonepaul

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss & I agree with whomever said it's always the hatches we really want &/or are really excited about that go off some how....
