Good Morning, I have chantecler chickens and although they are much older than yours (24 weeks when they started laying) 3 out of 5 of them went broody just after laying eggs for one month. They sat in the nesting boxes all day and and night except for in the morning when I fed them. The poop was huge broody poo. They had stopped laying and would fluff up their feather when I would lift the lid of their box. It seems crazy as their eggs are still so small. I didn’t think they would be able to hatch successfully. Two of them were like that for about a week and finally broke of it when I kept rousting them out of their box but one has been going strong in her box sitting on other chickens eggs now for 3 and a half weeks. I can’t seem to shake her of it and am considering letting her sit on some fertilized ones. A bit long winded but my point is that I think it is very possible for chickens to go broody shortly after starting to lay. Probably depends a lot on your breed of chicken. My blue Asians are over a year old, started laying at 16 weeks and have never been broody. Good luck, raising chickens is so much fun and it’s very interesting seeing how everyone else’s experiences are often very much alike but different at the same time.
