Very first eggs are in the incubator!

My very first set of eggs are in the incubator! I tried to candle them and I'm pretty sure 3 are not viable but I have never candled before so I put them in the incubator anyway. I only have 7 eggs so I'm hoping we get at least 2 chicks. I'm so nerves that none will make it because I have never hatched eggs before I have done a lots or research but I'm still worried! Keep your fingers crossed for us please! My 6 year old daughter will be super upset if none of our eggs hatch. She is really looking forward to watching them hatch. Here are our little egglets in my homemade Cool-a-bator! lol

And if I may ask.... I assume you just set them? So I'm curious to know what makes you think they aren't viable on the first day? Candling won't show you much until at least day 4-5, even day 7 before some show much. Candling is an addiction I have been inflicted with... ugh!

Your daughter will absolutely love days around 10-14! Lots of movement and things to see.

Thank you! When I candled them it looked like the air sac in 3 of them were freely moving around. That means that the egg got scrambled some how, right? I got them from a friend that has a mixed group of chickens so I have no idea what breed they are lol. If we have any chicks that hatch she will be getting the chicks back. I unfortunately cant keep them because of our HOA

You can't keep 'em??? Boy that sucks LOL... my HOA says I can't have any either, but I have 2 chicks, a turkey, and 4 ducks! All about a month old. And 14 chicks in my bator!! But they are just there "temporarily" until I take them to my camp/farm, which is about 45 minutes from my home. Ya know, temporary... a year or two! heehee

OH! Detached/floating air cells. Hmmm..... I think that usually happens with shipped eggs, or ones handled roughly. They should reattach in a few days I think. I believe people recommend not turning those for a few days though. But search for posts about it because I'm not positive and have no first-hand experience with it.
