very first hatch- nervous and eggcited

day 13, I've had to remove two of the eggs. One showed a blood ring when candled (one of the silkies) When I cracked the egg, the was a small fetus, but it was pale in color and under developed to what it should have been at that point (any future ones I will take pictures of, just wan't thinking) The other egg was oozing, there was no cracks, but there was crystalized yolk on the outside of the egg. When candled, the shell had multiple thin spots like speckles all over it. I probably could have left it, but I did not want to take the risk. Candling this one also showed a fetus but no veining. When cracked this one had a well developed fetus (again, I will take pictures with any future failed eggs)

Overall 10 out of the 12 still going strong. Candling looks really good. I am concerned that one of the frizzles may be twins, but I'm not very good at candling yet so I may be seeing it wrong. I will keep you posted!

9 hatched out of 12 that were put in. The two already mentioned and the third was one that I was unable to candle. No embryo when cracked so it was a non starter. All the rest are doing great, all the chicks appear to be healthy at this point, thank you for asking

BTW, the frizzle was not a twin
