Very happy new chicken owner!! :)

Darth Vader really has attractive markings. You really have some beautiful birds to start with.

Love your coop and run. Some type of top, even just deer netting will keep hawks out.

Thank you :) Darth Vader is our biggest, and she is kind of a bully to the others! Well we debated on putting some netting up, but I need to be able to get in and out to clean it out. We decided to do the same run as my mother in law has (only ours is a bit smaller, she has more chickens.) I put them in at night and let them out in the morning, and we decided on adding a top only if it becomes really necessary. We do have all kinds of hawks here, even bald eagles! My husband seems to think that since it's a small run, they won't want to swoop down into it. I guess time will tell!

Did you buy Darth Vader as a sexed pullet? Even though DV is eight weeks, three rows of points like I can see on the peacomb always make me suspicious, especially if the bird is a bully and that color.

They were supposed to be sexed with a 90% accuracy. Do you think it's a Rooster? I've read what to look for, and I thought the saddle feathers might be growing in now a bit pointy, but I don't really know. Darth is much bigger in the legs and really all around then my others. The 'leader' for sure.

I would say cockerel too, I'm seeing some saddle feathering coming in, and because of the red three row comb. That coloring is also a very roosterish color, most EEs with it are cockerels, I have seen some pullets though.
