I live in town but it still a farming town (tho quickly becoming more).
So a couple of weeks ago a neighbor comes up and asks if I'm missing a chicken. I said no but she said it was a red so I figured it must be my other neighbor who has production reds. So I go and capture her and placed her in a cage till my neighbor got home, but it wasn't his either.
So my son and I drove around the neighborhood (4 block radius) looking for someone that has chicken but we couldn't find anyone.
I put her in my brooder box (4'x4'). I knew she was pretty young, her comb was bright red and her vent was only slightly "large" so I knew she wasn't laying eggs yet or hasn't been for long. She had other clues to her age too. But after about a week and half goes by and I start finding jumbo size eggs in the box. 3 eggs every 4 days and all jumbo.
I've named her "Lost" and she is a production red. My thanks to the person who lost their hen, she has been an awesome addition to my flock.
