Yeah! I agree! I put all of my chickens in my side yard(completely seperate from my backyard which is fenced in for my little ones to play). Well, needless to say my kids don't EVER go into the backyard anymore which has all of their toys and a SWINGSET!!! They insist on "Playing with the chickens!" The chickens love to follow them around too..it's a mutual obsession!!
Anyway, I would just explain to your neighbors and the little girl that if she plays with them to just stay in your yard and this way they don't get "lost" because they need to be able to go to bed in their own yard at night. My son is 4 yrs. and he would totally understand this. He LOVES toting our HUGE Buff Orpie girls around! He carries them around like BIG Ol'Cats!!!!
and talks to them and sings to them and is just waaay tooo proud of them when they lay an egg!(sooo cute!) He makes a GREAT egg collector for me in the morning when it's too cold for me I bundle him up and he's in his gloryland!!!...I say you can make this thing work in your favor for sure! Just think when you go on vacation...you have the perfect chickie sitter!
Blessings,Keri
