Very loud chickens

One of my chickens has been very loud lately. We think that she is a snowy easter egger (we were told she was a white rock, but she has green feet and lays green eggs!), if that has to do with anything. She started laying a few weeks ago, and sang every time she laid. It would start with clucking, then a very loud BA-KAWK! Now she sings whenever anyone else lays, or even when someone is in the nesting box. We can hear her from the house. Will she stop? Is there anything I can do?

Sometimes as they get further along into their laying cycle they calm down - sometimes they don't.

I too, have cheerleader chicken. Her name is Nancy and I'm thinking about adding curtains to my nest boxes so she can't see in.

Sounds like teambuilding activity to me.

Do you have a rooster? If not, she might just have started to take on his duties.

Yeah, she is at the top of the pecking order. We don’t have a rooster, so that could be it!
