(5) What are some of your other hobbies? We are motorcycle enthusiasts Harley Riders

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We have 2 gorgeous children one in college and one in 5th grade. Been married 20 years. Have a 3 yr old boxer and a 9 year old lab. We have over 1/2 acre of land and a house we own (OWN) and I have wanted chickens for many years and now we can! I want to make sure we know everything before we get them. i am si excited!

How many chickens to get and what breeds will depend on how much space you have, what you want them for (eggs, eggs and meat, lawn ornaments) etc. But I must warn you: we all start out with a plan, like me for example. I was going to get 5 hens. Only 5. At the moment I have 13 hens, 1 rooster and 5 chicks

So whatever you do, build a big coop. Be prepared for the inevitable "chicken math"

Wow what a welcome! Thank you all so much! I am picking up my new babies next Thursday and I am so excited! 6 of them to start with. Looking forward to reading the forums and getting to know all of you!
