What exactly should Darcie be doing in regards tot he baby? She is lifting her wings and keeps nudging him with her beak. Duckie stands there and when the baby goes past him he turns and nips at him until he goes back to Darcie. Dewie, the duckling, has taken a liking to sitting on Darcie's back. She is still dancing around in her nest like she is rolling eggs.

I'm not sure about what I should be looking out for. When should she get off the nest with the baby?

It sounds like normal mommy and daddy things. She is lifting her wings to encourage him to go under them and stay near her. The gander is trying to make him stay near mom as well. Do you agree? Am I getting the correct impression?

Yes, you have the right impression. Guess I am just over-thinking things. I've only ever had a chicken with a brood, this is my first experience outside of that.

I'm charging my battery for my camera, as soon as it is charged I'll run back and grab some pictures. She seems...content..I'm sure she will be happier once she gets out and about with baby.

What a lovely story so far - I am so pleased for you and for Mum, Dad and baby! Can't wait to see pictures! You are obviously a caring Mum yourself to your Geese and the duckling - good luck!
Best wishes
Suzie

Sorry, no pictures today. Easter Dinner was hectic, didn't have time to do anything but check on them a few times. I'm in Baltimore, they are mutts.. African and Toulouse mixes.

Went back a bit ago and baby was tucked warmly under Darcie's wing. Daddy was sleeping next to them, and yelled at me for waking him up. Darcie got up today when I fed them this afternoon, she went to eat, but baby stayed in the corner by her nest peeping, (I made sure he ate and drank while I was back there) but i'm worried that he won't follow her to the feed and water dishes. Every time other than when I fed them, she was still sitting in the nest, and as soon as she was done eating she went right back to it.

Promise I'll have pictures tomorrow, I should have plenty of time..like all day lol
