Hi everyone, My 5 month old barred rock is sick, and I'm worried because she has the symptoms of a Silkie I had that died one moth ago. She goes to bed early, does not run around much but likes to stay close to the coop, and right now, she's just taking a nap on the ground. Also, she's been leaving a lot of green poops even though she has always eaten grass and I've never seen them before now. She also coughs a lot, and pants, even when it's not hot outside. She seems like she's losing feathers, and her nose is runny. I have some Tylan (antibiotics) leftover from when the silkie was sick, and I gave her those this morning, and to the other chickens we have, in case she has passed it to them. She's still young and doesn't lay eggs yet. Please help I am so worried! The other chicken in the photo sneezed a bit too.

The first thing I would do is separate them from the flock. Put them each in a separate dog kennel or something like that as is sounds like it’s spread already. Then put these kennels away from your flock.

The green poop can be a sign of mareks disease. I have mareks in my flock because I didn't know about it when I first got birds. I've had a few die from it and it's so sad to lose a chicken baby. Stress causes symptoms of it to come out. Not saying your birds have it but it is really easy to get from wild birds or other flocks that love close enough to you.

Thanks for the info, it looks like it could be Marek's. We do have a couple wild birds that spend time in the area. I will give her antibiotics and see what happens, in case it's something else.
